About the training Primavera

The training Primavera is aimed at teaching how to plan and control projects by using Oracle Primavera P6 18.8 and earlier versions, in the Traditional Project Management (TPM) practices defined and matured in the world of the engineer and construction professionals.

The terminology and principles used throughout this course are designed to reflect the current syllabus for the Traditional Project Management (TPM) practices defined and matured in the world of the engineer and construction professionals.

Course Outcome

At the end of the Primavera training, the participants will be able to:

  • Understand the steps required to create a project plan by using  Traditional Project Management (TPM) practices
  • Set up the Oracle Primavera software
  • Define calendars
  • Add activities
  • Organize activities according to project’s scope and format the layout
  • Add logic and activity relationships according to technical and legal constraints
  • Use Columns, Layout and Filters which create the printouts and reports
  • Updating progress/Critical Path Analysis
  • Controlling project progress reports –S Curve Analysis (Time, Cost, Scope)

  • Setting the project calendar
  • Defining the Work Breakdown Structure- Project Scope
  • Defining the list of activities
  • Estimating activity duration
  • Creating actiivty relationships
  • Critical Path Method Analysis- Project Time
  • Activity codes- defining an alternative WBS Structure
  • Customizing a Gantt Chart View (Layout)

Day 2

  • Defining roles and resources
  • Entering roles and resources maximum capacity(allocation)
  • Entering resources pay rates
  • Defining the resource calendar
  • Assigning labor/nonlabor resources
  • Activity settings when addding/removing resources
  • What are the project expenses
  • Best practices in using activity expenses
  • Assigning a dummy resource
  • Top down estimation
  • Saving the project baseline to be used for future comparisons
  • Saving a baseline layout
  • Assigning the baseline to the current project

Day 3

  • Identify the updating interval(progress spotlight)
  • Entering the activity %complete (duration, physical)
  • Entering actual values for  resources and costs
  • LAyouts for monitoring performance
