FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) unit to be built for Tortue Ahmeyim project

tortue-ahmeyim-project

According to Offshoreenergytoday site, The Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project will produce gas from an ultra-deepwater subsea system and mid-water floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, which will process the gas, removing heavier hydrocarbon components. The gas will then be transferred to a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility at an innovative nearshore hub located on the Mauritania and Senegal maritime border.

Tortue Project Scope

  • The near-shore hub and terminal marine infrastructure are encompassing berthing facilities for a permanently moored FLNG, the loading of LNG Carriers, and an offshore breakwater to shelter those facilities.
  • Use of subsea construction vessel Saipem 3000 for the installation of berthing and loading facilities. Up to 22,000 tonnes of marine structures will be fabricated at the Saipem shipyard in Indonesia in Karimun, the biggest construction yard in Southeast Asia.
  • Engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit to be deployed offshore on the maritime border of Mauritania and Senegal.
  • The floating unit FLNG Gimi is designed to produce an average of approximately 2.5 million tonnes of LNG per annum, using the Black & Veatch “Prico” liquefaction process, with the total gas resources in the field estimated to be around 15 trillion cubic feet.

Localisation

  • The Tortue Ahmeyim field development is located in the C-8 block offshore Mauritania and the Saint-Louis Profond block offshore Senegal.

Timeline

  • Expected to start production in 2022

Keyfigures of the Tortue Project

  • 15 trillion cubic feet. gas resources
  • Up to 22,000 tonnes of marine structures
  • 21 concrete caissons (16,500 tonnes)

It is expected that for such a big project, specialized software tools as Oracle Primavera and Microsoft Project will be required to deliver the project management requirements.
